Released in 1968 included trumpet players Lew Soloff and Chuck Winfield. This is their first album with David Clayton-Thomas as lead singer. The trumpet solo by Lew Soloff in the hit Spinning Wheel is legendary. Soloff often re-created this solo when performing as a guest artist. On this original recording, Winfield wasn't available for the Spinning Wheel recording session and Soloff got his good friend, Alan Rubin to sub for Winfield.
Released in 1971 included trumpet players Lew Soloff and Chuck Winfield. There's a lovely duet that takes place in Valentine's Day between Lew Soloff on piccolo trumpet and Chuck Winfield on trumpet. The piccolo trumpet sounds distant while the trumpet is to the front of the mix with a nice warm sound. The song's composer and lead singer, Steve Katz was very pleased with the work these two wonderful horn players did. This rarely hurt combination adds the emotion and sensitivity this tune richly deserves. Lew Soloff gives an introspective solo in the closing track A Look to My Heart.
This is an excellent collection and a great representation of Chicago.

When first released in 1970, many thought this tune was by the group Chicago. Another good tune for doing your cardio workout or while stuck in rush hour traffic.
