Herb Alpert had an artist vision for rock/pop music that featured the trumpet. He created Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass which became a huge success. From 1962 through 1992 Alpert signed artists to A&M Records and produced records for artists The Carpenters, Liza Minnelli and Janet Jackson to name a few. Albert can be heard on Jackson's hit Diamonds. Alpert was awarded the National Medal of Arts by President Obama in 2013.
