Recommended Readings

These are the books and an article that Mr. Adam recommended to his students. At the first trumpet lesson, he would instruction students to get Herrigel, Maltz and Gallwey adding, "Now...don't expect to find the word trumpet in any of these books".

Mr. Adam took an interest in understanding the physics of music as it applied to the trumpet. He encouraged students to read, The Physics of Brasses by Arthur H. Benade published in July, 1973 by W.H. Freeman and Company in the Readings from Scientific American, The Physics of Music. Reprints of this July 1973 issue can be ordered directly from Scientific American.

The Arthur H. Benade Archive contains research files, correspondence, published and unpublished writings, and other material from the Benade estate. Maintained by Gary P. Scavone at Stanford University.
